WINNIE

Video

Winnie is a TINY little girl - weighing just 6 pounds!  She is VERY affectionate and gentle.  She was recently (8/27/07) rescued from a very hard life on the streets.  According to the kind person who has been feeding her for the past couple of years, Winnie has had many litters of kittens and has always been a good mother even while struggling to survive without home of her own.

Unfortunately, Winnie is the result of the all-too-common scenario when a thoughtless human abandons a pet.

This little fair-skinned cutie did not do well out in the hot southern California sun and developed skin cancer on her ears.  Fortunately, she was rescued early in the disease process and the cancer was easily taken care of by removing the tips of her ears at the same time that she was spayed.

The video linked above is one that I filmed to show her feeder how well she is doing inside.  We were not sure if Winnie would enjoy being inside but the minute that I brought her to my house, she curled up on her bed as if to say "thanks for taking me off the streets!"  Her life on the streets was rough....fighting off intact tom cats (between having to care for litters of kittens)....skin cancer.....fleas.....dodging cars, neighborhood dogs, unkind people, etc.  She will no longer have to worry about all of those outdoor perils and is now waiting for her safe and forever home.

Resting comfortably after her spay and ear tip removal surgery.

Starting a new fashion trend - shorter, rounder ears!

Before her ear tips were removed:

Winnie likes to keep herself very clean.
